Designing an environmentally impactful studio
This month, we relocated to our brand-new studio space in the heart of Liverpool’s vibrant city centre.
Collaboration and inclusiveness are key pillars for Firesprite, and the space has been furnished and designed to reflect both our creative ambitions and studio values.
An issue of great importance to our sprites is sustainability, and Firesprite is proud to be a climate positive studio. We’ve planted over 50,000 trees so far in partnership with Ecologi, and we recently also partnered with Whale & Dolphin Conservation, joining their Games for Waves initiative and adopting a beautiful humpback whale!
Naturally, we also wanted to reflect those environmental commitments in our studio design and ensure that sustainability was a key theme throughout our new space.
The design of the space itself has maintained many of the original features and raw finishes - reducing the carbon footprint of the overall project - and any new products and materials came from sustainable sources.
There’s a vibrant splash of life and greenery throughout the entire studio, with real plants naturally purifying the air, and a nod to our environmental promise across the wall and roof décor. Low energy lighting with added sensors means that lighting will only be used when areas are occupied and 100% of our waste will be recycled.
Finishes throughout the building have been intentionally selected due to their recycled content percentage, including all of our task chairs, which went through a ‘design for the environment’ process. Humanscale Seating is all Net Positive certification, meaning each chair produced restores energy and clean water while reducing environmental waste.
